House Find #11: Cow Skull

Unbeknown to us there was a cow skull hiding under a bush in our backyard. Had I not tried to clean out the leaves that had fallen off of that bush I never would have found it. What's strange about it is that we live in a row house near the city, not near farmland. I have no idea how to even go about procuring a cow skull so the fact that one ended up in our a backyard is pretty interesting.

House Find #10: 1960's Army Recruitment Card

So far this is my favorite find. I found one part of this card to be particularly interesting and it's the line; "…in the New Action Army." I'm guessing the popularity of G.I. Joe dolls at the time had something to do with that.

Frisch's Big Boy

This past weekend we decided to try some local Cincinnati fare, so we went to Frisch's Big Boy. I've seen Bob's Big Boy before and I'm not exactly sure what the two have in common or where they differ, but their mascots do seem very similar. At any rate I saw this on a card and decided to give a scan.

Illustration Friday: Afterwards

Like most kids I played little league baseball. Unfortunately for my dad I never really cared much for baseball, but I didn't mind all the Bazooka gum, mainly for the comics, and the snow cones. Brian Regan is a comedian who seems to have had the same experience, you can listen here.

House Find #9: Fighting Irish

This is from one of the many Notre Dame posters and other ephemera found around the house. Although this image doesn't do it justice I liked this one because it was printed with some awesome gold ink.

"These Are Their Stories"

I happened upon "These Are Their Stories" and really liked the concept. Each artist took a one line description for a Law and Order episode and interpreted in their own way. You can see more here.

Pentagram: Art Directors Club Hall of Fame Gala

This is an example from a series of gift cards that were designed for the ADC Hall of Fame Gala. The quotes on the gift cards are great and from former inductees. To see more of the project click here.
