Hobo Leftovers

This once was a perfectly good jar of peanut butter. It's a little hard to tell but those are ants on the left.

Uncle Walter

We have a Scottish terrier, if that's a dog I'm not sure, that comes to the office on occasion with my boss. So, I translated Walter's appearance into person form. The body by the way is not much of a stretch, Walter is very wide and stout with still really thin legs.

Caloric Intake

The other day I was thinking about the laws in some states that require restaurants to post calorie numbers next to the food item. I decided to do one better and develop an icon set to accompany these numbers, so that 3000 has some meaning to it. So, these are some quick ideas I mocked up showing a healthy food option to a ridiculously unhealthy option.

The People's Republic of China

Interesting label, simply because putting "Made in The People's Republic of China," seems like a lot to put on every label coming out of the country. I wonder when they decided to shorten it.

The Velveteen Rabbit

I also bought the Velveteen Rabbit today, which happened to have this really great lining paper.

Peek-a-Boo: and other games for toddlers

Interesting book I found today. The floating baby head with the cryptic poem is really weird, but overall it has some really neat illustrations.

Google's tribute to Samuel Morse's birthday. How do you get the job of coming up with the google type anyway?

Maybe movie popcorn is actually a good investment, afterall it's the only thing that still seems to be going up in price.

I bought some frames today from a thrift shop and one them came with this little nugget. I rather like it.

Illustration Friday: Impossibility

Because what's more impossible than trying to keep water in a bucket with a hole, or keeping a concept together that has a hole, or any other variety of metaphors.

Really neat experiment with tones. Andre Michelle Laboratory

My brand new sketch book

Just finished making my new sketchbook. I love the type on this cover. Something about a new sketchbook is always exciting.

Somali Pirates

Drew these guys for a coworker's birthday card, because you know they hijacked her present.

The Conficker Worm

A quick illustrator sketch of the "Conficker" bug, "the astounding computer worm that threatens to wreak global havoc once its latest version begins to phone home for further instructions on April 1."

Mexican illustrator Patricio Betteo’s 365 Minutos. Every day, a new numbered drawing by himself or a friend. So far the series is up to 820.

Morning Meeting Sketch

We were talking about search engines today, so this is crude interpretation of what that might possibly look like.

Director Doug Sweetland

Last night I attended a lecture given by Doug Sweetland, the director of the animated short Presto. He talked about the art of storytelling in relation to Presto. It was great to find out all that goes on to produce an animated short, hint; it's a lot of hard work and time.
